Tom Clancy Games
If you’re a fan of the military thriller genre, then you’ve probably played Tom Clancy games. They have been released annually since 1998 and are now available on a variety of gaming platforms. Some of them are even available for mobile devices, including smartphones. One new game in the series is Quarantine, which is scheduled to be released in 2021. Tom Clancy’s series of games has been extremely popular with players.
The games in the Tom Clancy series are built on a solid tech-lore foundation and high stakes action. Unlike the other genres, they are not tied to any one genre, so you can find weapons that mimic real hardware and stat-heavy loot-guns. But the point isn’t to be realistic; they are about reality filtered through a certain lens. And they’re a lot of fun.
While you can play Tom Clancy games on other consoles, the Nintendo 3DS doesn’t do too well with them. The handheld doesn’t have the power to support the series’ fancy presentation, and it lacks robust networking features. Shooters just don’t feel right on Nintendo’s handhelds. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, Ghost Recon Shadow Wars isn’t a slow multiplayer shooter; it is a tactical role-playing game where you play against specialists. Regardless, it captures the drama of the original Ghost Recon series, and it plays like a turn-based XCOM game.
The Tom Clancy franchise is an excellent example of how authors can translate their work into a game. Despite being a well-known name, Clancy’s games have always been the perfect place for developers to try difficult game designs. They have pushed genres and changed the way people play. And because the franchise is so popular, it’s a good bet that future releases will follow suit. The success of the Tom Clancy franchise can’t be overstated.
